Our goal is to be a useful online resource for links and tips to help people reduce their energy consumption and expenditure. We are starting small but are ambitious.
We want to build a library of information of useful resources. Come back regularly and let us know your tips – or send us a Tweet or follow us @energyhive – we'll send our new resources out that way too.
We would like the list to continually evolve. If you have any suggested websites please contact us. Thank you!
Are you thinking of buying a new appliance, TV, stereo or computer but want to know what is the most energy efficient option? Sust-it.net is where to start – they have built a database of all the major suppliers' products and compare them by energy efficiency, and running cost. Invaluable.
Courtesy of Consumer Focus (the new statutory organisation campaigning for a fair deal for consumers in the UK) we have a list of energy tariff comparison services – all of whom are Consumer Focus accredited. Note that these services may earn a commission if you switch providers through their sites but energyhive do not.
Act on CO2 is a cross-government initiative which "aims to help people save money, save energy and reduce their CO2 emissions. The campaign highlights how individuals can act to make a difference." The site includes useful energy saving advice and a calculator to help you work out your personal carbon footprint.
If you are interested in helping your workplace more energy efficient, have a look at The Carbon Trust web site. The Carbon Trust's remit is to "offer products and services to help business reduce its carbon emissions and accelerate the move to a low carbon economy." They also provide a range of services and support for low carbon technology development.
Live Neutral was created to foster education and action around the imminent problems of greenhouse gas emissions. We help make it easy for individuals and organisations to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions directly and through participating in innovative market-based solutions to global climate change.
By neutralising your emissions through us, you will be supporting projects that reduce climate-changing emissions and fuel the economic model that drives the nation’s largest emitters to reduce, particularly through operational and energy efficiencies.
